Press Release: Sound protection for UK West Midlands Fire and Rescue Service
June, 2006
Silvertongue is pleased to announce that West Midlands Fire and Rescue Service has chosen Soundshield to protect their Fire Control Operators from acoustic shock injury.
After significant evaluation of a number of possible solutions West Midlands Fire chose Soundshield as the most appropriate device that offered the protection they wanted. The Soundshield device not only protected the operators hearing but has the capability to store worker noise exposure data allowing for continuous risk assessment.
The West Midlands evaluation team of Michelle Sheppard, Phillipa Jenkin and led by Mark Nicks said, "Soundshield provided excellent clarity of voice and sound quality whilst removing unwanted sounds that can really cause us problems. After evaluating Soundshield against a number of competitors we felt that Soundshield provided us with the best solution".
Paul Abley, of Silvertongue EMEA said, "It is a good feeling to have won the business with the West Midlands team. Soundshield is a premium product that leads its market. The advances Soundshield has made in both controlling acoustic shock events and being able to monitor and store worker noise exposure data both before and after the Soundshield device are highly innovative. The data logging feature alone provides every employer with a capability to continually risk asses a headset wearers noise exposure. This is an important part of any health and safety process in a headset wearing population."
Silvertongue, are leading suppliers of acoustic shock solutions within the EMEA region within the United Kingdom. Soundshield is now used extensively in emergency service command and control and call centre environments and continues to grow its sales world-wide.
