Press Release: Australian Company wins AUD$8m Telstra Contract

August, 2006

Polaris Communications, Australia’s leading distributor of telephone peripherals has been awarded the exclusive contract to supply all headset products to Telstra for its own contact centre staff and key contact centre customers.

The contract is for a minimum period of two years with a further one year option and is expected to be worth more than AUD$8.0 million.

Key Factors in the Win

Telstra, one of the largest telecommunications carriers in the world has been installing the Polaris designed and manufactured Soundshield acoustic shock protection device for all its desktops since 2002 under the terms of the previous sourcing contract.

Providing the ultimate in acoustic comfort and protection for headset wearers Soundshield is a unique solution to the growing worldwide issue of Acoustic Shock Injury.

The exhaustive tender process included bids from all major overseas manufacturers.  Telstra decided to continue its successful relationship with Polaris, showing commitment to Australian developed technology and continued support to local industry.

Polaris’ successful track record in managing large scale technology roll outs and supporting ergonomically safe solutions for Telstra’s own staff and Telstra customers over several years contributed to the win.

Following the enormous success of the Soundshield in the contact centre marketplace, Polaris continued to re-invest heavily into further product development that resulted in an exciting new range of contact centre headset products, which Telstra have also chosen to implement nationally.

Launched this year at CeBIT Australia 2006, the Australian designed Silvertongue range of technologically advanced telephone headsets have been designed to pair with the Soundshield acoustic safety device, enhancing the acoustic safety and comfort provided by the flagship Soundshield 3G device.

Polaris Managing Director, Mr Wayne Guest described the successful tender as “an iconic win and is critical to the future of our research & development program, the fact that Telstra have continued to support our company shows that they too believe in our ability as a world class developer of technology products and gives us further confidence to increase our investment into new & better products that will be distributed worldwide.”
